A Quiet Escape at Lake Fausse Pointe

View All Outdoors

An ideal spot for boating, canoeing, hiking, fishing, camping, birdwatching and wildlife viewing, Lake Fausse Pointe State Park provides a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities.

Located on the edge of the Atchafalaya Basin Spillway, the state park offers rental flat-bottom boats, canoes or kayaks to explore the scenic waterways that weave through the park. Maps detail the popular areas to explore, and the park marked an inner- and outer-loop paddling trail which allows visitors to paddle without requiring extra transportation.

The facility welcomes groups and individuals. Overnight visitors utilize a number of campgrounds, including backpacking and boat-only access, or choose to stay in one of the park’s furnished and air-conditioned lakefront cabins, which sleep up to eight people. Lake Fausse Pointe also features three nature trails up to 3.3 miles long where hikers might see alligator, herons, hawks or armadillos.
