A Standout Soccer Tradition in Lafayette

View All Kids Activities

The Lafayette Youth Soccer Association has a big following in Lafayette, where 1,500 children play on recreational teams. The association’s programs promote athletic growth through player development and sportsmanship.

The Lafayette Youth Soccer Association runs both recreational and competitive teams for children and adults. Its Turf Tykes program introduces soccer fundamentals and sportsmanship to boys and girls as young as three.

About 500 children and teens play as members of its Cajun Soccer Club, which is a more intensive league for competitive players ages 10 and up. The club offers its players a supplemental program, known as T.I.P.S., which focuses on honing technique, game intelligence, personality and speed. There is also a transitional league for nine- and 10-year-olds ready to make the jump from recreational to competitive play.

The organization also hosts summer and holiday camps, player skills clinics and tournaments. Most games are played at Lafayette’s Moore Park, a 34-field complex that includes nine lighted fields.
