View All Kids Activities

More than 500 animals, including 125 species of mammals, reptiles and amphibians, reside in Zoosiana—the Zoo of Acadiana in Broussard. The zoo’s 45-acre campus is located within a few minutes’ drive of Lafayette, and its exhibits give visitors an up-close view of animals such as, giraffes, camels, lions and lemurs.

Live animal shows, keeper talks, a butterfly room, a petting zoo and one of the largest outdoor playground structures in Louisiana provide children with a variety of ways to learn and play. The Antelope Express Train takes riders across an open savanna whose inhabitants include zebras, deer, waterbuck and gibbons. Children can also enjoy the facility’s Zoovenir Gift Shop, which sells everything from plush animals and books to toys and games.

Throughout the year, the zoo hosts a range of popular community events. The holiday Safari of Lights, Boo at the Zoo Halloween celebration and Eggstravaganzoo promote fun and raise awareness of wildlife conservation efforts.
