Private schools in Lafayette are available for students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Small class sizes, intensive coursework and advanced technology in the classroom create an engaging atmosphere, and many of the region’s private schools have received academic distinction both nationally and statewide.

Students at all levels benefit from challenging academics and extracurricular activities. In many of the Lafayette region’s private and parochial schools, elementary teachers utilize interactive whiteboard technology to enhance classroom learning, while elementary students are exposed to technology at a very young age and benefit from visits to the computer lab, where they learn the importance of computer-based research.

In addition to traditional courses in English, math and sciences, students at Lafayette’s private and parochial schools can take electives such as botany, videography, computer science and theater. Several schools offer unique travel programs to enhance the core curriculum – for example, students at the Episcopal School of Acadiana are able to travel to mountainous Wyoming and North Carolina to explore science and local wildlife. Private schools in the Lafayette area also offer strong athletic programs in football, swimming, tennis and more that compete at state and national levels.
