Mount Carmel Elementary School is a pre-kindergarten-through-8th-grade parochial campus in Abbeville that enrolls about 400 students. It is a feeder school to Vermilion Catholic High, a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence that is adjacent to Mount Carmel.

Development of Christian leadership and Catholic faith is a central tenet of education at Mount Carmel, and students study religion along with English, math, science, music and other core subjects. Instructional technology enhances a curriculum that encompasses an Accelerated Reader program and opportunities for individual enrichment. Classroom equipment includes document cameras, Promethean light boards in all classrooms, a 4:1 student-to-computer ratio and laptops for 6th-through-8th-grade students. All classes visit the computer laboratory each week to participate in class projects.

Mount Carmel Elementary School students are encouraged to take part in sports and extracurricular activities. Athletic teams include football starting in 5th grade, as well as golf, tennis, track and field, basketball and baseball.
