Sherburne Wildlife Management Area
Encompassing 44,000 acres of bottomland hardwoods crisscrossed by all-weather roads and ATV trails, Sherburne Complex (Sherburne Wildlife Management Area, Atchafalaya National Wildlife Refuge and the Bayou Des Ourses) maintains public and private boat launches for easy entry to its interior waterways, giving visitors convenient proximity and access. With its overflow lakes and numerous bayous, Sherburne contains an eclectic mix of fish, wildlife and natural topography.

Nature photographers visit Sherburne to capture dynamic images of the scenic views and local wildlife. Sherburne is home to more than 250 different species of birds, including the American Bald Eagle, Ivory-billed Woodpecker and the Peregrine Falcon making it a popular destination for birders. Visit the South Farm Unit in the Complex for the best shorebird and waterfowl watching in the region.
