Broadmoor Elementary School is a pre-kindergarten-through-4th-grade campus in Lafayette that received an A rating from the Louisiana Department of Education for 2014-15. This four-star School of Academic Distinction has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.

Broadmoor students receive instruction in music, science and technology in addition to core subjects such as English and math. In 2012, 90 percent of Broadmoor 4th graders met or exceeded grade-level expectations for English, according to state data. Foreign language courses in French are available to 4th grade students, while a gifted track presents individualized challenges and accelerated coursework.

Student achievement extends to out-of-classroom pursuits. A Broadmoor Elementary student took first prize in the 2011-12 Louisiana Young Authors competition for a non-fiction submission about the solar system. The school also offers students the opportunity to participate in 4-H, as well as the Broadmoor “Just Say No” club, which educates children on consequences of drug and alcohol abuse through monthly meetings, various programs and guest speakers.

The school invites parents to participate in clubs, as well as follow their children’s day-to-day performance through the school’s real-time progress tracker. The Student Progress Center updates parents on a variety of items, including conduct and homework assignments.
