South Louisiana Community College Helps Students Succeed

South Louisiana Community College (SLCC) is a fully accredited institution that offers a variety of options for students pursuing two-year degrees or professional certifications. SLCC’s small class sizes and accessible faculty provide students with an interpersonal learning environment, allowing for more direct interaction with both faculty and classmates.

SLCC offers more than ​40 degree and technical programs, including:

  • Business Technology
  • Care and Development of Young Children
  • Criminal Justice
  • Industrial Technology

SLCC is well-known for its healthcare programs, which provide specialized training in nursing and emergency medical training (EMT). Graduates from the nursing program can take the National Council of State Boards of Nursing NCLEX-RN exam to become nationally certified. The school’s EMT-Basic and EMT-Paramedic programs are accredited through the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMPS).

Students at SLCC can participate in various student activities including Student Government Association (SGA), volunteer opportunities and various clubs. Every year, students are eligible to apply for spots to attend the Salzburg Global Seminar in Salzburg, Austria, a series of lectures, discussions and projects aimed at global issues broken down into imagination, sustainability and justice categories.
